Hello all,

I finally got a chance to start on this and had some good success so far.

Here are the things I have working:

*No Changes:*
VFO A and B selecting and able to change freq (no change to original)
Copy VFO A to VFO B (no changes made)
Attenuator On/Off
S-meter
Mode select

*Added:*
Split
PTT button
Noise Blanker On/Off
Preamp On/Off

Things I have partially working:

VOX On/Off (can turn on, won't turn off)
Compressor On/Off (can turn on, won't turn off)
Filter select (this is sort-of working - it all depends on installed
filters - will keep playing with it)

What I hope to get working:

BK-IN Setting - May try to get this working tonight

I'll be asking for testers soon - though I may just leave it as source code
and let whoever wants to use it on Windows compile it themselves.

OK, another update:

I got the VOX and Compression working tonight.

In my update from earlier I thought that the noise blanker was working.. Well, it isn't. I will work on fixing that next. Also, the Filter/bandwidth select is still acting strange, that too will be worked on tomorrow night if I get the NB problem fixed. I think I will skip trying to get the BK-IN setting working.

I may have a version for testing ready in the next day or so.

Try upping your baud rate and make your stopbits=1, and a 20ms write delay.

I use the IC706MKIIG_DJ5MHZ.xml file. There are a couple of 'fixes' in it
over the stock one you are using.

I haven't set up fldigi yet after a fresh Linux Mint 13 installation. I
just wanted to start working on the FLRig changes I wanted to make.
What are you using for rig control? Hamlib or RigCat? On my Ubuntu
system (which I just did the switch to Mint on) Hamlib didn't work very
well for me. I was successfully using RigCat with a modified IC706MK2G.xml
file. I can send that to you tonight after I get home from work if you
would like.
What do you see as far as /dev/ttyUSBx when you type (without quotes)
"dmesg" at the terminal? Do you see the CI-V USB adapter at all?

Can you share you rig setup in side fldigi. I still can not get my rig

speak.
I am using a usb signallink and a usb ci-v

You also need to uncheck CAT command for PTT. None of the 706 series of radios have a cat command that control PTT. PTT must be done with an external port and keying circuit.

Also, Mike, be sure that in both the Hamlib and XML-RPC tabs that both check boxes are clear. It's easy to miss that as you can (IIRC) have multiple selected.. Which will mess things up too.

I haven't set up fldigi yet after a fresh Linux Mint 13 installation. I just wanted to start working on the FLRig changes I wanted to make.
What are you using for rig control? Hamlib or RigCat? On my Ubuntu system (which I just did the switch to Mint on) Hamlib didn't work very well for me. I was successfully using RigCat with a modified IC706MK2G.xml file. I can send that to you tonight after I get home from work if you would like.
What do you see as far as /dev/ttyUSBx when you type (without quotes) "dmesg" at the terminal? Do you see the CI-V USB adapter at all?

Geoff,
Can you share you rig setup in side fldigi. I still can not get my rig to communicate with fldigi. I have update the flrig unable to get it to speak.
I am using a usb signallink and a usb ci-v
Thanks

Subject: [linuxham] IC-706MK2G - FLRig - UPDATE
Hello all,
I finally got a chance to start on this and had some good success so far.
VFO A and B selecting and able to change freq (no change to original)
Copy VFO A to VFO B (no changes made)
Attenuator On/Off
S-meter
Mode select
Split
PTT button
Noise Blanker On/Off
Preamp On/Off
VOX On/Off (can turn on, won't turn off)
Compressor On/Off (can turn on, won't turn off)
Filter select (this is sort-of working - it all depends on installed filters - will keep playing with it)
BK-IN Setting - May try to get this working tonight
I'll be asking for testers soon - though I may just leave it as source code and let whoever wants to use it on Windows compile it themselves.

Mark, I will look into compiling a binary/executable for windows though I
have never done it before... Guess there's a first time for everything.
I am using a 706mkiig and fldigi. I will test flrig and your work so
put me on the list. I use windows but would not know how to compile it.
If I install flrig ( I think I did, but will check), would I be able to use
your 706 definition?
One thing that I would like to be able to do is select through the three
meters so when I operate remote(from the den during the winter when the
shack is COLD lol) I can monitor the swr, alc, and power. I bet others
would like that capability too.
Thank you so much for working on it!
