A week or so ago, I had asked the question regarding bluetooth and using it
as an interface for digital comms, ala the Rigblaster Blue. Not getting any
answers, I figure that most likely, no one was using one.
After this weeks class, where a couple people brought their Blues to class,
and we worked with them, I can give a little input so people might look it
up in the archives.
In general, results were a little underwhelming. two Rigblasters, one
eventually set up okay, the other never could be coaxed to work, although
perhaps with a modified cable, it might. The Blue apparently expects the
audio to come in on on cable, the Mic cable. This particular late model
Kenwood 2 meter didn't have that, and when we plugged in a temporary stereo
cable from the radio headphone jack, it decided to only work on receive,
whereas before it only worked on transmit.
Not certain if an equipment failure, or I never rule out pilot error.
Seems to be a lot of effort to avoid two little cables.
I'll know more about them after we start the next phase of the class, with
message handling. I'm still concerned about latency and an error prone
bluetooth transmission mode.
