HI gang,
I'm having trouble with rig control on my "Andy's Ham Radio Linux" system and my IC-746PRO.
Note that all of this *used* to work at one time, but now it does not. I'm looking for debug hints. Here's what I've tried.
flrig: when I setup the radio type and port, and then init, flrig becomes completely unresponsive and I have to kill the process.
flgidi: when I setup the rig control using rig cat (not hamlib), and then init, I see in the console terminal an error message that says the serial port test failed. I'm not sure what it thinks is wrong.
rigctl at the command line indicates communication timeout errors. For a while, I got PTT to toggle and the rig would enter/exit transmit mode, but now the LED blinks on the Rigblaster and the rig does nothing.
I've confirmed that /dev/ttyUSB0 is there, and that my user is in the dialout group, and that the device has rw permissions for ugo. I checked that the radio has CI-V address of 0x66 and that the baud rate matches (also tried auto to no avail).
My rig interface is a Rigblaster Plug n Play which has worked great for years. I've been exchanging emails with West Mountain Radio and I believe this box is working OK. I tested it with minicom and it echos characters when I plug a loopback connector into the rig control socket.
I did a reset of the IC-746PRO, also to no avail.
Is it possible for me to send (non-printable) bytes to the radio, and watch what it sends back? I have minicom available.
I can't help but wonder if the cable is flaky, but my ohm meter suggests that the cable is OK. However, I should double check it.
Thanks, and 73,
Andy
