Puppy Linux & Ham Radio

Reading all of the posts about Ham apps under Arch and Ubuntu under Linux made me want to take a moment to remind Hams of Puppy Linux.

We are in the middle of a home-addition so I don't have time for radio for another few weeks ... or months ... but I did have fldigi and several other apps playing nicely with Puppy.

It is one of the most-tightly written Linux distros, little wasted space and an emphasis on efficient use of resources.

There are a bunch of specialty versions and lots of great creativity and support on the Forum - including Hams all over the world who use Puppy.

Puppy runs well on older hardware and on netbooks and laptops. Fluppy 013/Puppeee was customized for netbooks but runs on a wide range of hardware. My current favorite is Squeeze 5X9.

I found most other versions of Linux to be bloated, looked around, and settled on Puppy several years ago. So, just one more recommendation.

Most of an hour searching google and the puppy forums didn't find me a
download page for Squeeze 5x9.

Puppy is good and fast but it is difficult to find puplets.

Can you post a link please?

Chris 123 gave the link which I didn't see because all the message was was
the link and my eyes didn't see the blue print.

Here is the link for the Puppy Ham Radio iso:

http://www.smokey01.com/pemasu/DpupSqueeze5X/DpupExprimo5X9/

Puppy Squeeze 5x9 iso is here:
http://www.smokey01.com/pemasu/DpupSqueeze5X/DpupExprimo5X9/squeeze-5.X.9-SCSI.iso

Once you have the iso running, you can download the development packages
which include many tools to compile your own programs which is necessary if
the package is provided only in source.

http://www.smokey01.com/pemasu/DpupSqueeze5X/DpupExprimo5X9/devx_squeeze_5.X.9.sfs

The md5sums are in the directory in the first link given here.

It seems that Puppy Squeeze has been abandoned.

I did find a folder with the new and perhaps even Squeeze Puppy Linux here:

http://brainwavedesigncentral.net/dima/

I didn't find the amateur radio one.

I think ubuntu flavours it's good for hamradio.
With ppa you can get updates for cqrlog, fldigi and other sw in real time.
Yes, recent ubuntu with unity it's unusable, but xubuntu for me it's the
best distro.
