I need to wipe out my config file on my MAC running FLDIGI under QSX 10,9,3. I had the location of the perf file written on a lost paper.
Thanks in advance. I am not using Linux.

Cheers

Perl??

The configuration file is ~/.fldigi/fldigi_def.xml, which I think is the same as for the Linux version.

Frank AF0XX,

If you would like to wipe out your configuration settings and start as a new user under the OS X version of fldigi, quit fldigi, drag the two following files out of your .fldigi folder

fldigi_def.xml
fldigi.prefs

and restart fldigi.

Once I get fldigi working the way I like to use it, I go into the .fldigi folder and zip a copy of the two files by doing a right-click and selecting the Compress option. The two files with the .zip added then become backups in case something gets screwed up. When that happen, I quit fldigi, open the .fldigi folder, trash the two files, click on the zipped version and restart fldigi. Your macros and other files will be unchanged. Another option under Mac OS X is to restore the two files using the Time Machine.

The above has saved my six several times

Ps: The fldigi file fldigi_def.xml-old is for linux and is made each time you quit fldigi. I do not recommend changing the name as a backup because it will contain the same issues as your primary fldigi_def.xml file.

Dick this is not the way I have done it in the past, just now I used spotlight to locate the files you mentioned with no luck. I seem to remember it was in documents or some other place and I have looked to no avail. And thanks for your time.

Not sure about OSX, but the .fldigi file in Linux is a hidden file and may
not show up in a search unless hidden folders are specifically looked for.

OSX is identical to Linux in the way that directories and files are
assigned for application store (fl apps only of course). Look through
the archives on this group and you will find several email chains that
discuss how to make the hidden directory visible. There are at least
two ways to do so on OS X. Select the one which is best for you.

Frank,

You are doing things the hard way. With a virgin install of fldigi on any Mac the easy way to view/manage the files in the hidden .fldigi folder is to go to the fldigi menu bar and click on File/Folders/Fldigi config. Using the OS X Spotlight seems like a lot of extra work to me.

If you want to have your .fldigi folder visible in the finder at all times, drop me a note and I will send you a copy of the W1HKJ terminal commands to make the .fldigi folder visible. There are also 3rd party utilities that will let toggle invisible/visible files
