I would like to chat with someone that has used fldigi as a W1AW/P operator on how you managed the split for RTTY operations.
For normal spit operations where I am the caller and the DX is listing UP I have no issues with fldigi. I set the TS-590’s VFO-A on his fixed calling frequency and use the rig's VF0-B to transmit UP. This has worked fine for years.
When it was my time slot to become one of the W1AW/5 (TX) operators, I ran mostly simplex RTTY because I was not sure how best to run in split mode. My first attempt to run split was to use the A-B button to make VFO-A equal VFO-B so both would be on the same frequency, then pushed SPLIT so my transmit would be fixed on the VFO-B frequency. I then mouse selected stations on the fldigi waterfall (VFO-A) that were calling UP 1 to 2. When I selected a calling station on the waterfall, I used fldigi QSY button to center the station to the sweet spot and frequency in VFO-A changed accordingly. The problem was when I listened to my transmitted signal (using the rig’s TX Monitor function), my transmitted signal sounded off frequency. I am not sure if it was really off frequency. Maybe I was not really listing to VFO-B but listening to VFO-B in VFO-A? I am not sure fldigi can listen to VFO-B?
Something was not right so I went back to simplex operation.
Sure could use some help for someone that has used fldigi as a W1AW/P station.
