Â
i tried a puppy distro on my compaq laptop (
http://softlayer-dal.dl.sourceforge.net/project/kb1oiq-andysham/andy-v15.1-32bit.iso
[1] ) and it won't boot from usb for some reason anybody have any
suggestions for an alternat... something obviously with at least
FLDigi already installed
Stop me if this is all old hat to you, but --
a) I think there is more to making a flash-drive bootable than just
dropping the dot-iso onto it. See the info here:
http://www.pendrivelinux.com/ for the steps to make your dot-iso
bootable,
b) You need to adjust your BIOS settings to make the USB bootable in
preference to the HD, and
c) (This one was waaay more subtle --) my Dell laptop BIOS wouldn't even
offer USB as a boot-option until it noticed a bootable flash drive
attached. I thought my laptop wasn't going to be able to boot from
flash until I stumbled across this bit.
