LDG897 will not autotune with Hamlib enabled

Hello,
I have an FT897 with the LDG897 autotuner attached, running the latest FLDigi under Ubuntu 12.04. I have found that the tuner will not autotune when switching bands when Hamlib is enabled. If I de-select Hamlib, then the tuner will tune, then I can re-select Hamlib to get proper frequency tracking etc.

According to the LDG tuner documentation, it will wait for a break in the CAT data stream between computer and radio to do what it needs to do. For some reason, this is not happening.

My shack is entirely 12v and computer is a laptop, so I haven't broken everything down to drag in the house to plug in a dummy load and hook up my DS2202 scope to probe the CAT data stream.

Any FLDigi/Hamlib experts out there ever seen this before?

I have not tried selecting a different protocol within FLDigi to communicate with my Yaesu FT897. Hamlib worked immediately, so I have not figured out how to get the other options working to test.

Thanks for your help,

I was also able to duplicate the "search failure" on this forum.

Download and install flrig, it supports the 897D if that is what yours is.

You might want to check with hamlib. Nate N0NB is pretty good at
answering emails and trying to help.

Thanks Ed,
FLRig, and FLDigi has always worked fine with regards to rig control via CAT. However I did switch protocols to RigCat, instead of Hamlib, from within the FLDigi settings and RigCat is working fine. The LDG AT-897 autotuner is now able to tune while the CAT control is enabled. Previously, I had to disable CAT control to use the tuner.

Thanks for your help,

Hello Jeff,

It's possible that Fldigi is constantly polling your radio via hamlib
and thus not leaving enough gaps in accessing the serial port for the
tuner to control the radio. Looking at the Fldigi documentation , it
seems there isn't a direct way to control how often it polls the radio (
http://www.w1hkj.com/FldigiHelp-3.22/TransceiverControl.html ). Maybe
increasing the "post write" delay might emulate what you're looking
for. It's worth noting that Flrig does offer this control via the "qry
intvl" knob ( http://w1hkj.com/flrig-help/index.html ).
