Permissioning again?

Running Ubuntu on old Packard Bell with LXDE desktop. I had FLdigi and WSJT-x running fine thro homebrew interface. Have just bought Kenwood DS-2000 and found I needed to add a hardware PTT (was using VOX) as audio input seems to be gated by the accessory PTT. After some hassles I've made this work with FLdigi but WSJT-x resolutely refuses to perform. I have used RTS on ttyS0. I have put the same settings into both programs and have set up and checked the permissioning on both programs to be the same yet one works and one doesn't. Running out of ideas!

an hour after posting this I discovered that current version of WSJTx has a bug in that it ignores the selected port and only uses USB0. I have made it work with a symlink, as follows...

sudo link /dev/ttyS0 /dev/ttyUSB0

this of course now means these are now linked for all progs, which may prove a pain in the future, especially if I forget!
