How to install wifi dongle onto Beaglebone Black?

Another question from this newbie:
How do I install a wifi dongle on my Beaglebone black running debian? I need a step-by-step help.


I did google it but could not find any replies that were sensible to this newbie. They all use a lot of jargon that assumes you are fluent in linux. Help!

Then if your device is not supported, you know you will need to find another. I wasted a LOT of time on a Windows only USB WiFi dongle.
